FreeLoo M composting toilet DIY kit classic XL black

The FreeLoo: DIY without tradeoffs

If you are a passionate do-it-yourselfer, our FreeLoo M DIY kit is exactly what you are looking for. It comes with our medium size containers and a separator of your choice, but without the wooden box - so you can make the toilet look exactly the way you want. It’s the perfect base for your custom composting toilet - and you don’t have to worry about compromising your creativity. You get to choose how your composting toilet will look like. Thanks to the FreeLoo, you can build it exactly the way you like - you are not bound to standard dimensions so you can tailor it to fit your individual space requirements.

Separator of your choice

To design your toilet to suit your needs, you can choose between our three separators: Compact, Classic, or Classic XL. All of our separators are made of 4 mm (0.2 in) thick ABS plastic, which is both stable and easy to work with. The high-gloss finish repels dirt and is easy to wipe and keep clean. The shape of all three models is adapted to the human body, ensuring that liquid and solid waste are properly separated and collected in the designated containers.

The models are available in black and white and have the following dimensions:

  • Compact separator: 34.5 x 25 x 15 cm (13.6 x 9.8 x 5.9 in)
  • Classic separator: 38.5 x 34.5 x 15 cm (15.2 x 13.6 x 5.9 in)
  • Classic XL separator: 48 x 48 x 15 cm (18.9 x 18.9 x 5.9 in)

Picking the right separator

Which separator is best for your FreeLoo depends on the planned size and use of your toilet, as well as on the level of flexibility you want when building it.

First things first: The internal dimensions of the urine separators are the same. All three have an opening at the front for urine to flow into the urine container inside the toilet. The Classic and Classic XL separators have an additional opening at the back for solid waste. The Compact separator doesn’t have a rim at the back which makes it a very good option if you want to use the toilet as a urinal or collect the solids directly in a compost pit.

The Classic separator is well-suited for any project. Its opening for solid waste extends downwards like a tube and ensures that the solids land safely in the bucket and that the inside of your composting toilet stays clean.

The Classic XL separator has a large plastic frame that covers the whole seating area of the toilet - making it more hygienic and easy to clean. You can easily cut the separator to any size using a jigsaw at the lowest speed. This is especially convenient if you don’t want your FreeLoo to have standard dimensions but prefer a great deal of flexibility when building it.

Each of the separators come with a sawing template that helps you cut the wood (which will support the separator) to the right size.

The FreeLoo M with our medium-sized containers: Your road to independence

The included urine container has a capacity of 9.5 liters (2.5 gal.), is made of recyclable polyethylene and measures 17.3 x 28 x 26.8 cm (6.8 x 11 x 10.6 in). The included solids bucket also has a capacity of 9.5 liters (2.5 gal.), is made of recyclable polypropylene and measures 28.4 x 19.5 x 27.5 cm (11.2 x 7.7 x 10.8 in). You can use these numbers as a reference when planning the design of your FreeLoo toilet.

The urine container can be used up to 23 times before needing to be emptied. When it comes to the solids bucket you can use it up to 12 times before emptying. This means you can travel completely independently with your FreeLoo. However, we recommend that you empty the urine container every day, or every other day, regardless of the amount of urine it contains. This is to prevent bad smells.

The FreeLoo is compatible with our Spillguard Kit that offers splash and leakage protection and helps with odor control.

When planning and building your own toilet please make sure to leave enough space from the top edge of the separator to the bottom of the urine container, it should be about 40 cm (15.8 in).

Super Qualität und sehr schnelle Lieferung

Erster Eindruck: top!
