Although we cannot completely avoid the use of plastic, we do our best to support a sustainable materials cycle. Thanks to its 100% recyclability, the container can be fully returned to the recycling loop after its lifespan.

Cleaning and Maintenance Tips for the Kildwick Urine Container

Thanks to the extra-wide opening, rinsing out the wide-neck container is especially quick and easy. However, for a thorough clean, simple rinsing isn’t enough – more intensive maintenance should be done regularly to prevent odors and ensure the highest level of hygiene.

We recommend our eco-friendly cleaning products: The organic Beetroot Cleaner and our compostable sponge cloth. Both are sustainable alternatives to conventional chemical cleaners and are perfect for cleaning your composting toilet containers.

Additional Cleaning Tips:

1. Regular emptying: Empty the urine container regularly to avoid the buildup of deposits and odors. (If urine sits too long, bacteria begin to convert urea into ammonia, and nobody wants that!)
2. Vinegar solution for stubborn deposits: If limescale or urine scale builds up in the container, a mixture of water and vinegar (1:1 ratio) helps. Let the solution sit briefly, then rinse thoroughly.
3. Baking soda as a deodorizer: Baking soda can help with strong odors. Simply add some baking soda powder to the empty container, fill with water, shake, and let sit for a few hours. This neutralizes odors and removes deposits.
4. Don’t forget to dry: Make sure to thoroughly dry the container after cleaning before using it again. Moisture can promote the growth of bacteria and odors.
