Prevent unpleasant odors with the Spillguard Plug

The Spillguard Plug is part of our Spillguard Kit. However, you can also use it on its own to fight odors. The small silicone plug is inserted into the urine outlet from above (like a cork). You can use it for all our models — even for our small PiccoLoo. Furthermore, it is compatible with DIY composting toilets that are equipped with either one of our separators or a separator of another manufacturer that has a diameter of 30 to 36 mm (1.2 to 1.4 in).

The Spillguard Plug serves more than one purpose: First, it reduces the amount of oxygen that flows into the urine container, slowing down the formation of smelly ammonia. Second, it prevents odors from escaping from the urine container. The plug consists of green silicone and has a practical shape for better handling. This makes it easy to insert and remove the plug. Don’t forget to remove it before peeing, even if you desperately need to pee. After cleaning the separator with our beetroot ecological cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar, you can simply put the plug back in.

The plug’s silicone material is soft, which prevents scratches, streaks or abrasion on the separator. Cleaning it is a piece of cake. You can put the Spillguard Plug in boiling water for a couple of minutes to disinfect it. Of course, you can also clean it with our ecological cleaner or a mixture of water and vinegar.

Please note that the plug — unlike the full kit — does not prevent leakage inside your composting toilet.
