Your VW California toilet: the MicroLoo 

There’s nothing quite like fresh sea air and white sandy beaches. Undoubtedly, traveling gives you a sense of adventure and freedom. And so does our MicroLoo! We have specifically designed this model for the VW T5 and T6. The small composting toilet fits perfectly into the toilet compartment right below the sink. Having it on board makes traveling easier and more convenient, whether you’re on the road or at the beach.

The MicroLoo is similar to our MiniLoo. Both have been developed for places with limited space like campers, vans or tiny homes. We wanted to make the MicroLoo even more compact so we have reduced its height by 10 cm. With its size of 38.4 × 33.7 × 33.7 cm (15.1 × 13.3 × 13.3 in) and weight of just 7.95 kg (17.5 lbs), it’s the ideal travel accessory for the T5 or T6.

Be clean, be green

The MicroLoo is the only composting toilet on the market that fits perfectly into the toilet compartment under the sink of the T5 or T6. So far these vehicles have often been equipped with the Porta Potti 335 or 345 chemical toilet. However, chemical toilets harm the environment and emptying them is rather inconvenient. If you are looking for an environmentally friendly alternative that is easy to empty, our MicroLoo is the right choice.

You don’t need to stop at a dump station every couple of days or use any toxic chemicals. It’s so much easier than that/ You can empty the urine into any toilet that crosses your path and throw the solid waste into a garbage bin for residual waste. You also have the option of composting it.

Please note that the MicroLoo is slightly shorter and narrower than the Porta Potti. However, it is 7 mm (0.3 in) higher. Use our mounting kit to store it securely under the sink. The base plate helps to level uneven surfaces and minimize excess space. This makes sure that the MicroLoo remains in place even during bumpy rides. 

Multitalented

You can use the MicroLoo as an end table or additional seat, just like the MiniLoo. The lid is very stable, supporting up to 100 kg (220 lbs). As we want you to sit as comfortably as possible, we have designed a seat cushion for the MiniLoo. Of course, it also fits the MicroLoo. 

Be a do-it-yourselfer with our DIY kit

Take the initiative and assemble the MicroLoo yourself! You don’t need much, just a little bit of time, commitment and a hammer. Our DIY kits are the whole package. They contain everything from the high-precision laser-cut components to the tiniest screw. This means that you don’t have to search for the right nails or go to the hardware store first, but can get started right away. 

The kit for the MicroLoo includes:

• laser-cut components for the box made of 8 mm (0.3 in) thick birch plywood
• magnetic toilet seat made of birch multiplex plywood
• Classic XL separator, available in black or white, pre-assembled on 8 mm perforated plate
• 5-liter (1.3 gal.) urine container with lid
• 5.5-liter (1.5 gal.) solids bucket with lid
• set of magnets

• Allen screws and wrench
• sandpaper (for optimal processing of your DIY kit)

After assembling the MicroLoo, place the 5-liter (1.3 gal.) urine container and the 5.5-liter (1.5 gal.) solids bucket in the plywood box. Thanks to the compact shape, they stay firmly in place. The separator is attached with extra strong magnets to provide additional stability. Even if the road is uneven, the containers and the separator do not move or make irritating noises.

Before you embark on your first adventure with the MicroLoo, be sure to paint, varnish or oil the body of the toilet on the inside and outside. This will protect the wood and extend the life of your composting toilet. Positive side effect - you can customize it as you wish.

Magnets for enhanced stability

The urine separator and the toilet seat are attached to the toilet with magnets — a small #revoLOOtion. Extra strong magnets replace the hinges normally found on composting toilets, ensuring a secure hold even on bumpy rides, and a high level of hygiene. As you can completely detach the urine separator and the toilet seat from the body of the MicroLoo, you can clean every nook and cranny. This way, germs don’t stand a chance. Even better, this innovative mounting method prevents rattling and ensures everything stays put. The magnets are firmly screwed to the body of the MicroLoo. The galvanized and rust proof metal plates screwed to the bottom of the separator and toilet seat give the construction stability. Please be careful when you put the seat back in as the magnets are really strong.

Comfortable to use and easy to clean

Even though the MicroLoo is 15 cm (5.9 in) lower than a standard toilet, it is very comfortable to use. You will bend your knees more generously when using it, which is the perfect position for going number 2…
The toilet seat is made from baltic birch plywood and is handmade, providing maximum comfort. Thanks to the magnets it automatically moves into the right position. Other camping toilets often don't have a proper toilet seat. But our model, on the other hand, not only feels good, but also looks good. It’s like winning the toilet lottery!

Cleaning the MicroLoo is a piece of cake. As both the toilet seat and the urine separator are attached to the toilet body with magnets, you can remove both parts easily and clean them thoroughly. There are no hinges, drill holes or germ hideouts. 
Both the top and bottom of the separator have a smooth, high-gloss finish which repels dirt and is easy to wipe clean. This, too, guarantees high standards in terms of hygiene.

More independence on the road

At the front of the MicroLoo, there is a small cutout so you can easily see when it’s time to empty the urine container. Both containers are removed from above, which comes especially in handy in small spaces. Use the spatula attached to the lid of the MicroLoo to remove the urine separator. Then you can take out the containers.  You can use the toilet to pee up to 12 times before you need to empty the 5-liter (1.3 gal.) urine container. When it comes to the solids bucket, you can use it up to 7 times before emptying. This means that two people can travel with the VW T5 or T6 for about three days without any toilet-related restrictions.

Although the urine container can hold a lot of liquid we recommend that you empty the urine container at least every other day (regardless of the amount of urine it contains) to avoid bad odors.
